Late in 2022, when the news surfaced that Marcus Coloma had quit General Hospital, it really came as a shock to viewers. Marcus’ character was bang in the middle of a center-stage storyline. Esme had just returned to Port Charles, with Nik’s baby in her belly. He then got involved in a conflict with Esme and Spencer. Moreover, old lovers, Liz and Nik started to come close to each other all over again. Thus, Marcus leaving the soap at such a crucial point was really jaw-dropping.
However, the production roped in actor Adam Huss to fill in for Marcus Coloma. Adam had previously played Nik on and off when Marcus was unavailable. Thus, he seemed like the perfect choice to take Nik’s character to his supposed conclusion on the soap. Moreover, it helped that Adam has always been well-received by the fans. However, after Ava bludgeoned Nik with a statue, it appeared that he had died. Thus, marking the character’s end on the soap!
But the Soap Gods had charted out a different destiny for Nik on General Hospital. The Dark Prince survived the blow! Austin’s devious cousin, Mason, found Nik and took him to a long-care facility, where Nik currently lies in a coma. This twist was a wonderful stroke by the makers, as it paved the path for the character’s temporary exit and yet left the door open for his return, as and when needed! And something is telling us that the time for getting Nik out of the ice might be around the corner!
Adam Huss Labels General Hospital The Best Show on TV!
On July 11, 2023, actor Adam Huss shared a snapshot of himself posing beside a General Hospital poster on Twitter. “Even in Walt Disney World, they know what the best show on TV is,” he captioned the post. In the picture, Adam is dressed aptly for the summer season, looking cute as a peach in a green sleeveless tee. He completed the look with a stylish pair of dark sunglasses and a backpack! Adam is sporting a confident and sunny smile as he points towards his on-screen mom, Laura Collins, on the poster.

While it might just be an innocuous post by the actor, it surely put General Hospital fans in a frenzy of excitement. Adam’s comment section started overflowing with fans asking if he is finally returning to the show as Nik. A fan sweetly asked him to “PLEASE PLEASE” return to the soap as Nikolas. While another asked him to tell the “best show on TV” to revive Nik’s character. Another fan pointed out that they really want Nik to return so that he can reunite with Liz!
Well, we won’t argue with that! Nik and Liz really do have a lot of unfinished business on General Hospital. And the writers really do need to bring them back together or at least give them some sort of closure. Meanwhile, Port Charles is running quite thin on Cassadines!
