If there is one name that has become synonyms with ABC’s General Hospital, it has to be Maurice Benard as Sonny Corinthos. The dimpled don first appeared in Port Charles back on August 13, 2023. Thus, Maurice will be touching a massive milestone of completing three decades on the soap in just a couple of days! Over the three decades that he has ruled over fans’ hearts, the two things about him that took front seat were, his mob activities, and torrid personal life!
Sonny has had many love interests over the years on General Hospital. The most prominent ones being, Brenda Barrett, Carly Spencer and Nina Reeves. However, in a recent chat with SOD, Maurice Benard shed some light on one romance that he personally enjoyed the most! The short lived one between Sonny and Alexis, which of course, resulted in the birth of their daughter, Kristina. Maurice raved that Nancy (Alexis) is very talented, quick and has a terrific sense of humor. “I was really into that relationship,” he divulged.
Now, we know that Sonny and Nina are really on thin ice on General Hospital. She has made no progress what so ever in removing the SEC leak as a threat to her relationship. Thus, at this point, it looks inevitable that once that truth spills out, her relationship with Sonny will sink. Staying on those lines, there had been many speculations about who will Sonny’s next love interest be. Of course, the most prominent name to surface was, Carly. But it looks like Maurice has just offered us another option! Alexis!
There is no doubt that Sonny and Alexis have chemistry on General Hospital. Moreover, their daughter, Kristina, also has been getting a lot of airtime these days! Speaking of Kristina, she has always rooted for Sonny and Nina, so it will be very interesting to watch how she reacts when that relationship goes kapoot, and her own bio-parents start reconnecting. In fact, for all we know, Kristina could actually be the reason why Sonny and Alexis start spending time together in the first place!
Currently, on General Hospital, Kristina has given Molly and TJ the open offer of becoming their surrogate. So if the story takes that turn, and Kristina does rise up to that position. There will certainly be a lot of twists and turns in her life. And Sonny being the family man that he is, would definitely be there for his daughter.
