General Hospital spoilers leak Ava Jerome (Maura West) should know better than to mess around with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

All this time, Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) has insisted there was no option in which Ava didn’t have to turn on Sonny and help Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) take him down, but Ava just wouldn’t budge.

She wasn’t going to forsake Sonny in a way that could come back on her. Instead, she’s chosen to forsake him in a way that can only come back on Austin. Her latest confession might leave her in the clear and looking like the victim, but rest assured, Sonny is still their prey.

Did anyone else notice Ava’s confession was a bit too on-the-nose, as though she wanted to get caught and was overly nervous about Sonny figuring her out? Ava knew that convincing Sonny his intuition was wrong would be a difficult task.

She was never trying to get Sonny to step in and save her from herself. Nah, that’s not Ava’s style. Rather, she needs Sonny to see her as his ally and someone who is beholden to him and in need of him.

That will make him drop his guard and he won’t be likely to look at her as a threat — which is exactly what she might be.

GH Spoilers – Suggest It May Have All Been Austin’s Idea
Ava took her new beau, Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth), to have lunch with Sonny, as well as her bestie Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), but things quickly went awry when Sonny put his cards on the table about how he feels toward Austin.

Maybe Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) told him a bit too much about Austin’s relationship with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) — or maybe Sonny is just that good at reading people.

Regardless, it was clear Sonny came into their afternoon lunch with preconceived notions about the guy.

Austin wouldn’t be the first guy who came into Ava’s life and wooed her just enough to manipulate her into doing whatever he wanted her to do — all while letting her think it was her idea.

Love works in a rather mysterious way on Ava, especially because she always seems too desperate to have it.

She regularly commits herself to being done with men, only to find herself shacked up with another one and wondering how she let him weasel his way into her heart.

This time around, she fell for the guy who saved her in a moment of panic. Wow, that’s new (not).
