DRAGGED OUT Sister Wives’ Kody Brown claims his breakup from wife Meri started ‘7 years ago’ despite announcing split last year

KODY Brown has revealed that his original marriage to first wife Meri was actually over for several years before she finally packed up and moved out.

The Sister Wives polygamist patriarch has parted ways with three of his four female partners.

Kody, 54, has confessed his union to Meri, 52, was the first to wane, yet she was the last to leave, following fellow wives Christine, 51, and Janelle, 54.

Meri stayed with Kody for more than 30 years, and the two share one child together: 28-year-old Leon.

In 2014, the pair divorced, but remained together, so that he could marry his “favorite” sister wife Robyn, 45, and adopt her three children.

Now, Kody says the writing was on the wall that their marriage was in crisis.

“We started a breakup seven years ago and have been going through just a process of trying to figure out what to do,” Kody told Us Weekly.

Speculation the two were having difficulties started as early as 2020, when Meri posted cryptic quotes on social media and ditched her wedding ring.

On January 10, 2023, Meri shared an official joint statement with Kody about their divorce saying: “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship.”

The statement continued: “During this process, we are committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all members of our family, and we are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace, and love.”

CHRISTINE
While Meri was the first to marry Kody, Christine was actually the first to leave.

Christine and Kody announced their split in November 2021 after more than 25 years of marriage.

In a statement at the time, Kody said: “Christine’s decision to leave comes with a great deal of sadness.

“We enjoyed many years together and I have a large amount of respect and admiration for her.”

However, Kody recently recanted his story, telling Us Weekly that while he believed it was his obligation to ride it out, Christine was the one to leave.

“I never felt like I had the right to say, ‘Hey, listen, I don’t love this woman. I want a divorce.’ I never felt like that was in my wheelhouse, but it was in theirs,” Kody told Us.

“So, Christine made a choice, and that’s kind of where it’s at. She chose to go, and it’s a blessing and a curse. It’s been very, very, very hard. But it was her being brave enough to do it, because I was never going to do that.”

Christine has since moved on, marrying David Woolley earlier this month.

JANELLE
Janelle soon followed Chrisine’s lead.

An insider previously told The U.S. Sun: “She’s no longer claiming to be his wife. She does not believe she’s part of the equation of marriage with Kody anymore.

“It’s done, it’s over,” the source said.

The relationship “dissolved” over the course of a year and the “final straw” took place earlier that summer.

However, Kody is holding out some hope of a reunion between the two, and says the two are still in touch.

But they may be better off as friends than husband and wife.

“I can talk to Janelle all the time and say, ‘Hey, what are we going to do? Are we going to reconcile this?’ And she doesn’t sound like she’s interested in reconciliation,” Kody says.”I mean, time changes things, and if you move forward with grace and forgiveness, maybe you’ll find love in the end … even if not staying in the marriage.”Meri, Christine and Janelle have all left KodyMeri, Christine and Janelle have all left Kody
