Is Mac Scorpio (John J. York) dying on General Hospital? Now, he’s in critical condition and needs life-saving surgery. Could this fan-favorite legacy character die on the ABC soap? He’s the latest victim of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and things seem dire.
Mac Scorpio’s Legacy History on GH
Mac Scorpio arrived at the ABC soap back in 1991. He was the estranged brother of super-spy Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers). The two eventually ironed out their differences. Then, they fought bad guys together.
When Robert and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) “died”, he raised Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) for them. Later, Mac fell in love with Felicia Jones Scorpio (Kristina Wagner). The two had an on-again/off-again relationship for many years.
But Mac’s been a devoted father figure to her two daughters, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and now-dead Georgie Jones (Lindze Letherman). They were happy together for a while but their relationship was tested on General Hospital.
Later, Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner) came back to town and declared his love for his ex-wife. But Felicia chose Mac and they married. Now, Now, he continues to fight crime as Port Chuck’s Police Commissioner.
He is an all-around good guy and everyone adores him, especially the girls who love him like a father. Now, though, things look dire. Will GH writers actually kill off Mac Scorpio?
Peter August Escapes Once Again on General Hospital
The ABC soap cannot seem to get rid of awful Peter August. He has been shot at, pushed down steps, put in a freezer, presumed dead, and arrested. We finally thought that Faison’s wicked son was off to Pentonville but that didn’t happen.
The super-villain has once again managed to escape. Peter has done some awful things, including murdering Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). But this escape from police custody after leaving General Hospital may be the worst of all.
In his escape, the bad guys shot the beloved Mac. Franco was redeemed but was once a serial killer. This time it’s different. Everyone loves Mac. All will be praying that he survives. GH Twitter teased life and death crisis during the escape.
Is Mac Scorpio Leaving General Hospital?
Things look bad on GH. With Mac losing a lot of blood, his family’s frantic. And don’t forget, we’re into February sweeps. They usually do big drama and deaths in this period to spike ratings.
But will General Hospital kill off Mac Scorpio? Is John J. York leaving GH? Recall, Kristina Wagner was recently brought back on contract at the soap. This may have been for the Maxie baby storyline. But there may be something else in store for Mrs. Scorpio.
Felicia could lose her husband which would be devastating. If Mac dies, it would create a ripple effect all throughout Port Charles. So many are close with the police commissioner. His loss would be huge to everyone — and to fans too.
Killing off Mac Scorpio is going to be a huge mistake and please keep Mac Scorpio on General Hospital because he is one of the good guys on the show

Peter causing Mac’s death would bring his evil to a whole new level. If the police commish doesn’t survive, there will be no stopping those who love him. It’ll put an even bigger target on Peter’s back.
Naturally, Mac Scorpio dying would be a shock. But it wouldn’t be the first time the soap killed off a beloved character. Remember the shocking deaths of Tony Jones (Brad Maule), Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon), Georgie Jones and many more?
