Could Thaao Penghlis Return To General Hospital?
Thaao Penghlis made his debut on General Hospital in 1981 as Victor Cassadine. He was the main antagonist on the soap who stole the Ice Princess diamond. When Victor’s then-girlfriend, Tiffany Hill, discovered his plans, she helped Robert, Luke, and Laura in taking him down. Consequently, Victor was imprisoned after Penghlis’ role was written off the soap. However, Penghlis returned to the soap for a few episodes in 2014.
Now, Kathleen Gati, who plays Liesl Obrecht on General Hospital, has shown up with exciting news about Thaao. On July 15th, she tweeted that she loved working with Thaao Penghlis on GH. This single tweet raised many speculations regarding Thaao’s return to the soap. Replying to her tweet, Thaao Penghlis also wrote that he loved working with Kathleen as well. He also said that she’s a pro and a lovely human. In the pictures Gati shared, they look happy, with a gleaming smile.
Which Character Would Thaao Play?
We know that Victor Cassadine ( last played by actor Charles Shaughnessy) is presumed dead from a drone strike in Greenland. But folks, do not forget that it is the storyline of a SOAP OPERA! Anything can happen within a snap of fingers, or let’s say, by the writer’s will. Therefore, General Hospital fans won’t be surprised if Victor returns to the screen. Writers can resurrect him from the dead for a spicy watch! His character could be reprised by its old portrayer, Thaao Penghlis. Could Gati’s latest tweet be a hint of exactly that?
Then, it is also possible that General Hospital writers could also bring Penghlis for a whole new character. It is possible that since fans love Charles Shaughnessy as Victor, a new character might be in the works. Ever since Charles took over Victor’s role in 2021, fans are loving him as the antagonist. So, GH writers might not replace him. They could write a new storyline for Thaao Penghlis with a new character. Anyway, Soap opera fans are familiar with such recasts.
