Even when we knew that actor Marcus Coloma had hung his hat as Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital, it still came as a shock that the makers killed the character. Fans were prepared that Nik will pull a vanishing act from Port Charles. Only to reappear later when the makers would have recast the role. But all hell broke loose when Ava smashed his head, and Nik fell to his death. Austin and Ava then stashed his body in the stables at Wyndemere. They planned to take care of it post-Portia and Curtis’ wedding.
However, Ryan and Heather cut their plan short on General Hospital when they infiltrated the Wyndemere castle and wreaked havoc. But that led to a 180-degree spin on the storyline of Nik’s death. His body disappeared from Wyndemere! Does that mean he isn’t dead? Did he manage to pull off the vanishing act after all? It seems very likely at this point. In any case, it really was an extreme step to kill of a major character like Nik bang in the middle of all the mess he was surrounded by!
In the recent episodes of General Hospital, Heather told Ava everything that Ryan had done to destroy her married life. Later, Ava relayed the information to Spencer. Both Spencer and Ava now feel deep regret over how their relationships with Nik soured because of Ryan and Esme’s interference. We wonder if this is an attempt to whitewash Nikolas Cassadine’s image. If the Dark Prince rises from the dead, will he come back a few shades lighter?
It’s true that Ryan and Esme’s conspiracy set the ball rolling, but everything that Nik did was his own choice on General Hospital. Esme may have seduced him, but he CHOSE to sleep with his son’s girlfriend. When she returned with a baby bump, he CHOSE to hold her captive. The storylines really did railroad his character.
