Meri Brown spent 32 years together with Kody Brown before their split in Sister Wives season 18. Meri was introduced to Kody by his sister in October 1989. They got married in April 1990, when Meri was 19 and Kody was 22. Meanwhile, Janelle and Kody had already met when Kody was courting Meri. She was attending family events, including Kody and Meri’s wedding. Janelle joined the Brown family as Kody’s second wife in 1993 after marrying him “spiritually.” Meri and Kody had one child together in 1995, but she couldn’t give him more kids because of fertility issues.
Kody and Meri were legally married for 14 years because she divorced him in 2014 so he could legally marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, to adopt her three kids. Meri remained spiritually married to Kody, but in 2015, she became the victim of a catfishing scandal. This is the biggest reason why Meri’s marriage to Kody became estranged. Kody claimed that he couldn’t get himself to trust Meri and his romantic feelings for Meri diminished. Meri had not been intimate with Kody for nearly a decade. He strung her along instead of letting Meri go until Meri finally decided to part ways in 2023.
