Sister Wives’ Recap: Janelle Says She Doesn’t Want to Be Married to Kody Anymore

In a recent episode of the hit reality show “Sister Wives,” tensions reached new heights as Janelle Brown, one of Kody Brown’s wives, made a significant declaration regarding her relationship with Kody. The episode, which aired on Sunday, showcased a heart-to-heart conversation between Janelle and Christine Brown, Kody’s ex-wife. The topic of discussion: the current state of Janelle’s estranged marriage with Kody.

Janelle revealed that she had sought guidance from the family counselor, Nancy, leading her to a profound realization – her marriage with Kody had run its course. She expressed her feelings candidly to Christine, stating, “I’m growing and I need something different. And that’s hard. I’m still reconciling that little bit. I don’t want to be married anymore.”

Christine, visibly taken aback by Janelle’s admission, responded by saying, “This is one of the first times I’ve heard Janelle talking about what she has with Kody isn’t enough. I just don’t think he’s capable of more.”

Janelle acknowledged her ongoing affection for Kody but explained that she now seeks a different kind of marriage. She emphasized that it’s acceptable to grow and change, even if it means parting ways with a long-standing partner. With most of their children having grown and moved out, Janelle finds it difficult to envision a reconciliation with Kody. She said, “I can’t think of any reason that I would want him to come back at this point.”

However, the decision isn’t without its inner turmoil for Janelle, who mentioned that her faith discourages ending a marriage. She revealed, “I haven’t had any kind of inspiration to that regard yet.”

Kody, on his part, claimed that he has made efforts to mend the relationship, but it seems Janelle is not interested in reconciling with his other wives, particularly Robyn and Meri. He expressed his confusion, saying, “She’s not interested in a relationship with Robyn. She’s not interested in a relationship with Meri. Certainly not Meri, I guess. And how does that work for me?”

Regarding his own role in the situation, Kody seemed uncertain about what he could offer Janelle, suggesting, “I think it’s a mistake, but whatever.”

Christine and Janelle concurred that Kody has changed significantly. Christine remarked, “He’s not the same person,” and added that she couldn’t love the person he had become. Robyn and Meri echoed this sentiment, with Robyn stating, “He’s been very, very, very angry,” and Meri expressing sadness for Kody but noting that he hasn’t put in any effort to improve their relationship.

Meri disclosed her plans to move her clothing business to Utah, fearing Robyn’s reaction, as she believes Robyn is the only one who genuinely cares. Robyn, while supportive, emphasized the temporary nature of the move.

However, Meri expressed concerns about Robyn’s limited contact during the pandemic, emphasizing that it’s crucial for Robyn to communicate her wishes regarding Meri’s presence. Despite the challenges, Meri still hopes for reconciliation with Kody, stating, “I just feel like he is going to sometime realize that this is something that he committed to as well and that we can work on moving forward. I want him to work on this relationship with me.”

Kody, on the other hand, appeared less optimistic, remarking, “I don’t want to reconcile the relationship because I don’t think it’s a fit for me.”

Robyn shared her internal conflict, wanting Meri to be happy but also desiring to preserve the family. She expressed frustration with the possibility of monogamy, feeling as though decisions were being made for her life without her consent.

For fans of “Sister Wives,” it’s no surprise that the relationship between Meri and Kody ultimately dissolved. In January, they confirmed that they had “permanently terminated” their marriage, leaving Robyn as Kody’s only remaining wife.

“Sister Wives” continues to captivate audiences with its unique portrayal of a polygamous family’s trials and tribulations. You can catch the drama every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
