Meri Brown Says Kody Brown Told Her She “Could Stick Around” Even Though He No Longer Wants Her

Meri Brown has chosen to reveal the reasons behind her decision to part ways with Kody Brown, despite the initial belief in an everlasting union. The turbulent relationship between Meri and Kody, which has been evident to fans over recent years, left many hoping for her departure from the marriage.

In a candid discussion, Meri now shares her perspective on what it’s like to remain in a relationship where one is no longer valued.

Meri Brown Recalls How Kody Brown Ended Their Relationship
Meri and Kody’s journey began in 1990, with an unwavering belief in the enduring strength of their love, even as three other women became a part of their marital equation.

She was once committed to enduring anything for the sake of their bond. However, what proved unbearable for Meri was Kody’s shifting feelings toward her.

“On October 29th’s episode of the show, Meri reminisced, “In our religious upbringing and when we first married, it was with the intention of forever,” as she believed that their connection would stand the test of time.

She described the moment Kody conveyed his disinterest in her, saying, “‘Well, I’m just not interested. You can stick around if you want.’” Upon reflection, Meri found this proposal unsettling. The 52-year-old wondered, “‘Why would I want to do that eternally?’”

The presence of this profound change in Kody’s feelings led Meri to a pivotal decision. Despite maintaining a strong bond with Robyn and her five children, she recognized that she could no longer stay in the marriage.

Meri Brown Advocates for Openness About the End of Their Relationship
Meri took the initiative to propose to Kody that they be transparent about the state of their relationship, considering their lives were lived publicly.

She explained, “I said to him, ‘Since our lives are on public display, why don’t we openly and honestly discuss this? Let’s share our story with everyone.’” However, Kody’s response was less than enthusiastic. He responded, “No, I don’t want to do that. I can’t handle the criticism. Let’s keep this private.”

Meri firmly resisted this request, stating, “I’m not willing to spend the rest of my life concealing the reality of our relationship and the fact that you’ve expressed no intention to continue a relationship with me. This is my story as well, and I have the right to share it.”

In a special episode titled “Sister Wives: One on One” that aired in December, featuring Kody, Robyn, and her fellow sister wives, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown, Meri seized the opportunity to lay it all bare, even disclosing her reaction to Kody’s declaration that he no longer considered himself married to her.
